BCOM: Business Gives Back

In this BCOM Business Gives Back project, myself, along with four other group members worked together to come up with a speculative proposal on how to bring benefit to an issue in the DFW area. We theoretically paired Amazon with non-profit organization; The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center to aid in the issue of homelessness by providing residents of The Bridge with jobs at Amazon as well as a mode of transportation to/from work.

I was personally able to visit and tour The Bridge facility which was an incredible experience, but also provided great information for our speculative proposal.

OBHR: Human Resources Plan

This human resources plan was a group project given in my OBHR class. As a group, we had to pick a particular job title and do research on it to present an analysis using components of organizational behavior and human resource management. My group chose a real estate agent in the job category of sales.

Through the process of completing this project, I gained a better understanding of each organizational behavior and human resource management component we were to include in our plan. In addition, while working with my group I was able to practice both effective communication skills and problem solving skills.

Professional Development: Informational Interview

In this informational interview, I was to contact and interview a professional who held a job that I would be interested in, in my future, post-graduation. This project was a chance for me to ask a working professional any questions I had about the job/career. For my interview, I had the pleasure to speak to previous USAA President and current Goodwill San Antonio CEO Kevin Bergner.

The process of this interview helped me grow my network but also gave me the chance to practice professional setting skills. It was critical for me to be professional, punctual, and particular through the process of this assignment.
